This page and the agents were made with AI assistance and can contain errors. Use them at your own risk, and check a rule or deadline before you rely on it. Feedback is much appreciated: use the Feedback button at the bottom right, or ask your assistant to use the feedback tool.

Students ask me the same questions about deadlines, formatting, grading and who to contact. The answers are spread over slides, emails, Canvas and the Student Portal. I have collected BI's material in two agents. Each agent returns BI's own text with its source and date. Your language model writes the answer.

The agents are not an official BI service. When they differ from the Student Portal, Canvas or WISEflow, those decide. Ask the agent where its answer comes from, and check a deadline before you rely on it.

The agents

Master thesis · classes of 2025-2027 and 2026-2028

Thesis agent

Deadlines for both classes, with the rules for illness and retakes. The grading criteria for every delivery up to the oral adjustment. Rules for formatting, references, personal data and AI. Notes on the economics thesis from my seminars. A checklist for each delivery.

Internship report · GRA 22601 · autumn 2026

Internship agent

The full assignment with the page budget for each section. The grading criteria. The deadline and the digital certificate from the company. Where the internship can be, including with BI faculty and unpaid work. My answers to the questions students have asked this autumn. A checklist for your draft.

How to use them

There are three ways. All are free beyond your own plan, and none needs a login or a key.

  • As a connector (MCP). In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Paste the address of the agent and click Add. In ChatGPT, turn on Developer mode under Settings, Connectors, Advanced settings, create a connector with the address and choose No authentication. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http bi-thesis https://andreaskostol.no/mcp/thesis. Other clients: streamable HTTP, no authentication.
  • As a skill. Download the zip and add it as a skill in Claude, or extract it into the skills folder of your coding agent.
  • As one file. Download the md file and upload it to a Claude project, a custom GPT, a Gemini Gem or NotebookLM. BI gives every student free access to Gemini and NotebookLM with the student email.

Menu names change between versions of the apps.

Then ask in plain language, in English or Norwegian. Some examples:

  • "I am in the class of 2026-2028. When is the preliminary thesis report due, and what happens if I fail it?"
  • "What font, margins and line spacing should the thesis have, and do I need a front page?"
  • "Here is our thesis proposal. Go through the checklist for the proposal and tell us what is missing."
  • "How does the oral adjustment work, and what will the examiners ask about?"
  • "Is this a good problem for section d of my internship report? Check it against the grading criteria."
  • "How do I get the internship certificate from the company?"

MST 0441 problem agent

MST 0441 Consumers, Trade and Business Strategy · autumn 2026

Problem agent

Your assistant writes new practice problems with solutions. It follows the course's rules for problems and the rubrics the exam is written to. The agent checks a problem against the rules and recomputes the numbers in a solution for the standard course models. It holds no solutions to the problem sets, workshops or exams.

https://andreaskostol.no/mcp/mst0441

Tools: mst0441_guide, mst0441_search, mst0441_read, mst0441_rules, mst0441_rubric, mst0441_check_problem, mst0441_verify. Download: skill (zip) or one file (md).

Connect it as described above, with the address of this agent. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http mst0441 https://andreaskostol.no/mcp/mst0441. With the md file in Gemini or NotebookLM you get the rules and the rubrics, but not the checker or the calculator.

A problem from the agent is practice. It does not predict the exam. The calculator checks numbers only. Figures, explanations and every part it marks as not checked have not been verified, so bring those to class. This agent has no feedback tool and stores nothing. Use the Feedback button at the bottom right.

Some examples:

  • "Write a new problem for Session 9 on comparative advantage, in the style of the exam, with a full solution. Check it with the MST 0441 tools before you show it. Tell me which parts the tools could not verify."
  • "Give me a Session 4 problem on saving and borrowing, but no solution yet. I will solve it on paper. Then I will give you my numbers, and you check them with the verifier."
  • "I solved a Cournot problem with demand P = 120 - Q and marginal cost 20 for both firms. I got 50 for each firm. Check my numbers with the verifier. Do not give me the answer. Tell me which step to look at again."
  • "Read the rubric for Session 5. Write one problem that tests every criterion at the excellent level. Say which part tests which criterion."
  • "Here is a problem I wrote for my study group. Check it against the MST 0441 rules and tell me what to fix."
  • "Make three problems for Session 12: one easy, one medium and one hard. Put all the solutions after the last problem."
  • "Which parts of Session 3 are not on the exam?"
  • "Lag en oppgave til sesjon 6 om bytteøkonomi og Edgeworth-boksen, med løsning steg for steg. Sjekk tallene med verktøyet."

Sources and limits

The thesis agent is built from the thesis slides of Student Experience and BI's revised thesis process of June 2026. It also uses the library's seminar slides and my own slides for the economics major. The internship agent is built from the GRA 22601 assignment and grading criteria. It also uses the BI Internship Team's note on the new certificate and my answers to students. Each section names its source and date.

The Student Portal needs a BI login, so its pages are not included. A required thesis length, the number of supervision hours and the oral adjustment period for the class of 2026-2028 are not stated in the material. The agents say so when asked. Questions about your own situation go to info@bi.no with Master thesis in the subject, or to internship@bi.no.

Economics students can write to me with economics questions and supervisor changes: andreas.r.kostol@bi.no.
